I wanted to come up with some things that maybe people aren't thinking about. And I enjoy creativity, so I came up with some stuff that is possibly new & refreshing.
Thief Skill1: Steal Money from another player. Skill2: Knife of Calculation. Steal all money from another player. Skill3: Steal Money from player just by looking at him (feeds $100 per second, but causes a skill-effect revealing his position). Ultimate: Mimic the dead. (Player dies. Press again, player stands from death coordinates). (Could be highly useful in conjuction with Knife of Calculation for instance).
Decentor Skill1: Speed. Skill2: Breathing Invisibility. (Basically a renderfx mani-admin mode, like 11). (No one's breathing, but some renderFx modes have really slow fades that could mimic it, or you could use 11 which is by far my favorite). Skill3: Explosives Launch. (Throws 2 grenades if you have one by random chance multiplier). Ultimate: Full 360 degree, 6-axis movement. (Similar to Archmage, but this version allows you to turn your entire body to face any direction from any angle. Would allow a person to shoot from an upside-down or any position while flying. Strengths: It allows a player much more control than an Archmage has. Weaknesses: It adds so much movement that it becomes a problem for most players, only some will actually be able to pilot this race well. Most will fail. Name comes from Decent, the spaceship game.)

Oh man, that Decentor race sounds fun, but I don't think Source supports 6-axis movement. I could see that ability being really useful, such as hanging upside down above a doorway.
I like the Thief also, I used to play on a WC3 server with a "Pimp" race that had a chance (80-90% at max) to steal 1500 on a hit. His abilitys weren't very useful but with all the money he could rack up, the shopmenu became almost like a skill.

Personally I had a similar idea for Thief. It was a Doppleganger. It had a chance of disguising it's self, stole a LOT of money, and had a random races skill at spawn on chance.

Both sound cool, but one problem with the thief's steal money by looking, as soon as you SEE a player you would automatically take money, and you could actually use that as an ability to see invisible units/units you wouldn't normally catch, and to reveal their exact position every time easily...
