Problem: Rampant team stacking despite admins giving numerous warnings and even kicking repeat offenders.
Suggested Solution: Force "auto join" rather than allow players to pick teams.
It's incredibly frustrating when someone keeps going to spec and then joining the "winning" team after yTB has moved them to try and balance out the teams. I hope that this suggestion will be considered.

i agree 100%, it also speeds up the start of maps because people aren't waiting to join t on cs maps and ct on de maps.

What about the people who don't like being terrorists because they enjoy playing on the "good" side?
What about the people who, for whatever reason, simply cannot figure out how to play a certain side on certain maps?

I have been considering this for a while! I would like to see more input from other players and admin before I make a final decision.
I have added the auto join function. It will be tested for a while... again I would like some feedback on this please.

I can already tell you how it will impact my play because my examples are my own.
Let's say that I just cannot figure out how to play as a Terrorist on Office. If I get auto'd to Terrorist on Office, I'm going to retry & wait just like I would if I couldn't join CT.
It isn't because I'm trying to be a jerk & unbalance the game. It's because although I have played probably 100 games as a Terrorist in Office just trying to understand it, although I've looked at the Counter-Strike forums and scoured for strategies, asked people how they play it, and done all the homework I should do, I simply cannot play Terrorist on Office. I can't.
Additionally, I don't know how to use an AK very well. Some guys *LOVE* that gun & swear by it. Again I've gone to the forums & I've asked about it. Burst they say. Burst. I burst every f**kin' gun I get including the TMP. It does not help me. I think the sound of the gun itself just bothers me, it's a loud ass gun, and not in a cool way like the booming sound of an AWP. Even in Spec, I change away from any player that has an AK. That's an annoying sound.
So this test & the possible implementation of the auto-only style will probably have me leaving the server quite a bit. I would watch your player count, because this server is hoppin' almost all the time & half full even way late at night sometimes. I think because of this change it will be empty or close to it in the wee hours. I certainly hope so because this is not a good move in my estimation.
I understand that you are trying to make the move for the benefit of all players & game balance, but perhaps a better way of doing that is either tweaking ETB somehow or asking your admins to start pushing people to spec that are in the lead with a score of 20-4, while the other team's leader is 16-14 because of bad teams. Do that for awhile & people will begin to police eachother about it.
I don't even mind getting changed over to the Terrorists, even on Office, as long as I started as a CT, or had the choice to do so. And that's another important distinction, having the ability to make choices empowers the player. I don't want to be a slave to too many automatic checks & balance - certainly not this one.

The only problem that i've seen is that a players potential, isn't a statistic and isn't considered when balancing the teams, a few times things have ended up where certain players end up on the same team and one side gets completly stomped on over and over again.

I'll keep playing with auto-join enabled and add my impressions as I go. My opinions both of the auto-join and others comments as of now:
1) Admins have to force people to get out of spec and join a team. I've seen rounds with no admin and people will sit in spec for 5+ rounds waiting for a chance to join the "winning" team. I am not suggesting that it's a fault with the admins, I have seen admins kicking people that stay in spec too long. It happens more often when there are no admins around.
2) The best way to learn how to play terrorist on Office? Practice by playing terrorist on office.
3) I've seen a couple of people on the server bitching about "messing up their stats". That's a rediculous argument. Their stats are artificially high because they keep stacking the winning teams rather than play where yTB assigns them.

2) The best way to learn how to play terrorist on Office? Practice by playing terrorist on office. I have practiced. I have researched. I've done everything a person should do. I bet that every single person that plays the game has weak points; they can't play Terrorist on Aztec, they can't figure out the AWP, or they don't know how to protect a bomb. Whatever it is, everyone has weak points. Mine is T on office & I've tried everything I know how. I just can't get it. More practice isn't going to make a parapalegic into a basketball star. As far as stats go, your argument might be technically correct, but it doesn't change a damned thing. I play here because the competition is fierce. But it is because this server offers 5 free admins to the best players. And that means it attracts stat-whores and hackers like flies. I don't think I'll ever make admin. I have a life outside of CS & I don't cheat & I don't care enough about my stats to worry about being on the winning team, or what rank I am, or how many points I gained or lost. I play for fun. But it isn't any fun to be on a map & a team where I know I will almost certainly play like shit. It's almost like giving a guy a Mac10 with 1 clip & everyone else gets to buy whatever they want. Now go play & enjoy yourself. And if you can't win, maybe you should just practice with the Mac 10 some more. Also, it makes you a f**kin' puppet. Choosing the team that suits your style of play is important. Maybe you love to camp, then Terrorist on Office makes sense for you. But at least you have the CHOICE to do so! That's all important to me. I want the choice dammit. I have a brain. Let me choose. Otherwise, just make everyone the same. No races, only Deagles, no choices.

Zep and I just have a difference of opinion and there is nothing wrong with that. He has more fun when he gets to play what he is best at and I play whatever role I am put in as a way of testing myself. He may be one of those people who looks down on players like me who are trying their best to play terrorist on Office and end up with scores like 10/30. I don't mind that because I am not "freaked out" about my stats. I play to have fun. In my mind, it is more fun when players allow the server to make an honest attempt at balancing the teams. When players stack so that they might get admin, it becomes less fun for me. As the month progresses and the levels get skewed, it becomes even less fun when you have 3 rogues stacking a team.
As to admin going to the top 5; like you say... I have a life and can't focus 8 hours a day on playing any game. I was the lead admin and programmer for a long running WC3 server and I enjoyed it immensely, but I don't live and die by my stats so I will never be in the top 5 on this server. I understand that some people don't think like me but I like the forced auto-join because it is an easy way to reduce some of the things that make the server less fun for people like myself.

You speak your case well. But there has to be a better way.
I was on a server where the admins were strict about team-balancing. If you were stacking, they'd warn you once, then throw you to spec, then kick you, then ban you for 2 hours.
After awhile, people got the message & started policing themselves & votekicking/votebanning assholes who stacked.

Edco: It's hard for me not to automatically hit "5" in order to be auto-assigned but I actually tried choosing a team today and was allowed to pick T or CT. Were you not testing out forced auto assign? If so, it doesn't seem to be working.

i liked it better with the auto assign on. sure people complained that ytb didnt make a good job of making the teams even when auto assign was on.. but its way better compared to no auto assign. coz people do stack when auto assign isnt on. like bobo for instance rofl. and yes i do hate him because he breaks the rules and acts like nobody knows about it
i liked it better with the auto assign on.

I'm with Kenshin on BoBo/BaBa. He's the worst stacker of the bunch. And complains like crazy when people point it out.
